HQ Lacquer then came to the notice of a company who were looking for a polyester lacquer specialist to help them supply Rover Car Group with high quality veneered components. Our involvement with Rover (owned by BMW at the time), as a second tier supplier, was our introduction to high volume, high quality production. We produced many thousands of top quality lacquered components for the Rover 800 and the last of the old Minis for many years.
HQ Lacquer was also asked to apply our polyester finish to the woodwork of all the prototype Bentley Continental GTs. When the Rolls Royce Phantom was introduced, we were involved with the finishing of the early Phantoms’ woodwork, whilst the main contractor ramped up their production.

Today, HQ Lacquer specialises in the renovation of prestige marques’ woodwork to the highest possible standard for the classic car market. For newer cars, our service ranges from the removal of scratches and scuffs from lacquered wood trim to a complete colour change, e.g. from walnut to piano black.
